The Castle Rock Orchestra is an adult community orchestra based in Castle Rock, Colorado. The ensemble rehearses and performs at the First United Methodist Church of Castle Rock, 1200 South Street, on Sundays from 2pm to 4pm. Performances consist of 20th Century music including Impressionism, Americana, pops, and film music.

Performances are as follows:

4pm to 6pm Saturday, May 31, The Castle Rock Consort, a small group consisting of members of the orchestra, will perform Medieval and Renaissance music in costume at the grand opening of the new Borders Park Meadows.

8am and 11 am Sunday, June 1, The Castle Rock Consort,
a small group consisting of members of the orchestra, will perform Medieval and Renaissance music in costume at the First United Methodist Church of Castle Rock.

June 14 to August 3, Saturdays and Sundays. The Castle Musicale Ensemble (AKA Castle Rock Consort) will be performing Medieval and Renaissance music daily in costume at the Colorado Renaissance Festival in Larkspur (www.coloradorenaissance.com).

6pm Saturday, Sept. 20. The Orchestra will be performing dance music in downtown Castle Rock. More details to follow.

ADVENTURES IN FILM- The orchestra is in the process of recording and editing a CD of six film scores including Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban, and Lord of the Rings:Two Towers. We anticipate the CDs being available in early July. More details will be forthcoming as the project progresses and copies will be available for sale online.
The group is led by Matt Rose. Originally from Kansas, Matt spent from 1994 to 2006 in Los Angeles. He received a Certificate in Film Scoring from UCLA Extension where he studied composition and conducting with Gerald Fried and Thom Sharp. He also studied composition and music theory with Dr. David Goodman at Santa Monica College. He spent one year at Hans Zimmer's Media Ventures working with composers Mark Mancina, Jeff Rona, John Van Tongeren and Nick Glennie-Smith. Matt is the president of the Denver Pops-Mostly Strauss Orchestra, is a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Highlands Ranch, and participates in a number of LCMA ensembles.
The group is open to all area musicians with a college-level of musical proficiency.
